Candice Carty Williams

Author Candice Carty Williams lives near me in Herne Hill, and her bestselling book Queenie is set in South London. I had such an easygoing and fun shoot with her. I think it was a relief after The Times interview which seem to be keen to put her in a box - ‘the black Phoebe Waller Bridge’.

The background of her flat was really busy, which I often avoid, but she was sitting on the carpet and it reminded me a bit of a Malik Sidibe photo so I went with it.
